Hi, I am Emily Karcher Schmitt.

I am a specialty photographer known for creating and delivering dynamic portraits, event imagery and printed heirloom pieces that tell stories for a lifetime. In 2019 and 2021, I was named one of Washington, D.C.’s Top 10 Family Photographers by Peerspace. My aesthetic is classic and clean, joyful and timeless. More than anything, your images will be true to you -- as though your real life is beautifully magazine-ready.

As a nonfiction writer for magazines as well, I'm passionate about telling stories that reveal the spark of each individual, couple, family, and in some cases, an entire brand. Since 2012, my clients have ranged from one-woman businesses to political candidates, new parents and large extended families, nonprofits and corporations. As a breast cancer survivor and mother, my ultimate goal is documenting connection, whether between a mother and child, a couple in love, or a head shot that that leads to connecting a brand with an entire community. I'm excited to tell your story next-- I proudly serve the Washington, D.C., area (my home), and the Outer Banks of North Carolina (my home away from home!). Let's do this!
